[Updated 11/30] AFP and TELUS Honor Top Inspirational Tweets for National Philanthropy Day® - Recipients Selected!
(Toronto, Ontario) The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and TELUS are recognizing five inspiring and generous people who tweeted how they were changing the world on Nov. 15, National Philanthropy Day®.
This year, all Canadians were encouraged to participate on a Twitter contest by tweeting how they were changing the world to hashtag #npdTELUS. The five most inspiring tweets earned the sender a $500 contribution to their favorite charitable cause. The five tweets selected are: I put on benefit concerts to raise money for cancer research—inspired by Lindsay Thomas, who I never had the privilege of meeting - Rebecca Lenio @NeverLoseSpirit Rebecca has selected the Lindsay Thomas Memorial Fund at the Princess Margaret Hospital to receive a $500 contribution in her name! I am a fainter but I dragged myself to donate blood the other day because a bit of my time is lifechanging for someone else - Lori Harasem @paixful Lori has selected to donate her $500 to a co-worker whose is racing on behalf of his son who has diabetes! Driving across Canada playing hockey to raise food & awareness for local food banks.Building @fiveholeforfood one pound at a time - Samantha Rogers @samanthalrogers Samantha has selected Five Hole for Food, which raises funds for food banks, to receive a $500 contribution in her name! My #dog & I both have #arthritis but she is such an example to me of carrying on. Even in pain, she wants to walk, so I do, too - marjistevens @MarjiStevens Marjorie has selected the educational charity Afretech Aid Society to receive a $500 contribution in her name I give to @LukesPlace1 because if I change an abused mother's experience so do I change a child's - Donna McAllister @abtthecause Donna has selected Luke’s Place, which helps abused women and children, to receive a $500 contribution in her name!
